We welcomed Rev. Dr. Martell Spagnolo to the pulpit last Sunday, Febuary 26, 2017, for a candidate sermon. Martell, as he prefers to be called, led us in a meditation on the transfiguration or metamorphosis of Christ.  He encouraged us to take care of the less fortunate by treating God’s people with dignity, value and love. He taught us about change that is good, about change for the future, and about change that is about love. At the end of the sermon, Martell embraced the history of our church by sharing a prayer in song with Rev. Ryan.  We are blessed to have two pastors with many gifts.  Following this meaningful service, a special congregational meeting was held, in which the congregation voted overwhelmingly to call Rev. Dr. Martell Spagnolo to be the next Senior Pastor of First Congregational Church.    Martell accepted the call and will begin his ministry with us on May 1, 2017.

Thank you to the members of the senior pastor search committee for their prayful discernment. The members are Craig Ostebee, Marissa Schlup, Allen Hamberger, Holly Swedeen, Brian Wienk, Cheryl Bernhard, Jim Wiederrich, Rhonda Class, and Deb Dimick.
