Youth Ministries The members of our church have embraced our youth and given them support in many ways. It has been very rewarding to watch the youth become great friends throughout their years of fellowship here. As they move on it is our hope that they each know God’s love for them is true. That wherever they are in life, friends are close by at First Congregational Church. Church School Sunday morning church school is available for children beginning at age two (2) through Senior High school. Our Confirmation years are for youth in the 7th and 8th grade. Recent changes have brought about a new two-year program beginning each September through the first part of May. The youth are confirmed in the spring of their 8th grade year. Classes are structured around the seven vows in the confirmation service and we also use printed UCC curriculum materials supplemented by service projects, outreach events, retreats, etc. Adult Bible Study and Forums are also available for the “kid-at-heart” age or anyone 18 and up!
Connect Connect with your child, connect with parents, and connect with your faith in this new class being offered during the Sunday School hour. This class is for parents and children infant to two years old. It is a time for the parent and child to sing, read, and play together and then learn from each other through fellowship and parent resources.
First Kids’ Club Youth Group All youth in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades are welcome and encouraged to join this group! Friends gather twice a month to learn about each other, discover interesting facts about their church and to learn the importance of being a good steward to their church. These young children have huge hearts and are eager to be with each other. This Month: Sunday, March 7: All-American Gymnastics Center, 11:30 a.m. (lunch first) Wednesday, March 17: Scavenger Hunt, 6:45 p.m. Mid-High Youth Group Youth in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades make up our Mid-High Youth Group and youth in 9th through 12th grade make up our Senior Youth Group. These two groups meet a couple of times during a month both on and off site for fellowship activities. Often times they meet together, but they also have separate planned activities. Off site activities would include bowling, “goofy” golf and go-cart races and skiing and tubing at our local outdoor winter area. On site activities would be small service projects, playing sardines throughout the church, watching movies, etc. This Month: Friday, March 19: 1/2 Lock-in, 8:00-11:00 p.m.
Senior High Youth Group Saturday, March 27: Prepare for Bake Sale, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
